[edit] Ratchet: Deadlocked
Ratchet: Deadlocked is the forth game released in the series. It was released on October 25, 2005 in North America and on November 18 in Europe. After the murder of a famous superhero and capture of many others, Ratchet and Clank (along with Al) are captured from the Starship Phoenix. Ratchet is forced to take part in a brutal sport television show called the DreadZone, created by the evil Gleeman Vox. He is also forced to wear an explosive collar around his neck that will shock him if he strays into restricted areas, and explode if he gets uncooperative or boring. With the help of Clank and Al (who help from the sidelines), Ratchet needs to stay alive, find away to destroy the collar around his neck, and take down Gleeman Vox and his powerful minions 'The Exterminators' (4 evil contestants on the show who do not play by any rules). The next game in the series is Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters for the PSP (later ported to the PS2).
[edit] Story
Ratchet and Clank are searching the galaxy for some missing heroes, when the duo is captured by Gleeman Vox. A "Deadlock" collar is put on Ratchet to prevent him from escaping, and he is forced to enter Vox's combat show called DreadZone. Ratchet has to complete various missions and objectives to keep up the show's ratings while trying to not be killed by the Exterminators, and he and Clank need to figure out a way to escape. Clank, who is now a mission engineer, will aid Ratchet over the radio in his journey.
[edit] Gameplay
In this installment, Ratchet will be running, jumping, and shooting with a number of other characters while competing on a combat-based reality TV show. Focused heavily on combat and weaponry, Deadlocked promises to break all barriers yet again in the platformer genre. 5 different mechanical vehicles will open up more gameplay styles, which include a tank and hoverbike, and bots add to Ratchet's arsenal. Gameplay is mission based and will occur in various arena-style atmospheres. A new feature to the game is that you can play with a friend locally throughout the entire story mode. In online gaming, there will be new gameplay modes in addition to the ones in Up Your Arsenal (5 total), as well as more customization, maps, and different competition opportunities. Instead of the massive weapon collection that R&C games are used to, there will be only 10 weapons, but these weapons will be able to get many modifications that lead to infinite possibilities. Another weapon addition is the option to wield two weapons at once, for fast-paced dual action.
