Ratchet and Clank are searching the galaxy for some missing heroes, when the duo is captured by Gleeman Vox. A "Deadlock" collar is put on Ratchet to prevent him from escaping, and he is forced to enter Vox's combat show called DeadZone. Ratchet has to complete various missions and objectives to keep up the show's ratings while trying to figure out a way to escape. Clank, who is now a mission engineer, will aid Ratchet over the radio in his journey.
Ratchet and Clank are enjoying a stay in the bustling utopia known as Metropolis, when a distress signal from Captain Qwark informs them of an attacking armada. The connection is cut off, and the duo are now caught in the middle of an full-scale invasion led by the ruthless Emperor Percival Tachyon, a being known as a "Cragmite". Ratchet & Clank eventually escape the planet, and soon realize that Ratchet was their intended target. They stumble upon the Polaris Galaxy, and find Talwyn, who tells Ratchet about the "Lombax Secret". The duo once again set out into the galaxy, their mission this time to learn about their origins and past, and to discover why they are so special.
Clank also has his own side story where he discovers he has a soul. He can also speak to robots that only he can see, known as the "Zony", some of which unlock powers Clank never knew he had.
On vacation following the events of their last PS2 crusade (Deadlocked), Ratchet and Clank have decided to take it easy for awhile on the beaches of a lush tropical planet. Unfortunately for them, their peace is short-lived as it doesn't take long before they meet up with Luna, a young photojournalist writing a grade school report on intergalactic superheroes. After pestering the duo to the point of submission, Luna begins to follow the Lombax and his Robot sidekick as they explore the local sands. Soon thereafter, the unthinkable happens (or thinkable if you're used to videogame jumping off points) and Luna is kidnapped by a forgotten society of genius inventors called "The Technomites." From that moment on, things get messy as Ratchet and Clank set out to rescue her.
This is the third installment of the Ratchet and Clank series. Clank is now a star of is own TV series "Secret Agent Clank", with Ratchet taking a backseat from the spotlight. When their home planet of Veldin is under attack from the evil Dr. Nefarious, the duo is sent by the Galactic pres. to find and form a team of unlikely heroes including returnees Skidd McMarxx, Helga, Captain Qwark, and Big Al. You'll also meet Ratchet's new love interest, Sasha, who is also the pilot of the Star Phoenix, the home base of the Q-Force (Skidd, Helga, Ratchet, Clank, Big Al, and Qwark). Ratchet'll be able to train, purchase weapons, and receive missions.
